HOUSING INSTALLATION TOOL

Installation of Glebus spring vent housings is difficult due to the size of the housing, the fact that most mold surfaces are not flat, the proximity of sipes and ribs and the possibility of damage to the aluminum mold.

The quantity of spring vents in one mold makes installation time for each housing a major consideration.  Also, alignment of the housing to the hole and depth of the housing into the hole are important aspects.

Kay-Zee Inc. has manufactured a punch to install the Glebus spring vent housings addressing these issues.  Here are some of the features:

The overall length is approximately 5-3/4".  This allows the installer to see the housing and his hand does not block the light.

There are two sizes: one punch for 2.0 and 2.5mm housings (P/N SVP2025), one punch for 3.0 and 3.2mm housings (P/N SVP3032)

The diameter of the punch shaft is large enough to prevent the housing from going below the surface of the mold.  Sharp edges of the punch are chamfered.

The tip of the punch is machined to a diameter that will align the housing, but, with some clearance to prevent binding.  The tip is shortened to prevent breakage of the tip.
